Words

I don’t look at her beauty,

even though she’s beautiful

I don’t touch her hand

Even though it’s warm

She’s passion without action

Arousal without function

She cuts across gender

Meaningless that affect

She listens with eyes

hears with her heart

I long to understand her pain

Want to grasp her journey

Want to hear her words

Acceptance

Unadorned feet.

Her legs flitted aimlessly

Summer dress

Long, thin arms stretched and grabbed at air

The eyes, always the eyes

Wrinkled in smile, glowing in opportunity

Awake, yearning for understanding, acceptance

Nose slight, purt..perfect

Unbiased in life, with a current of knowing

Accepting of thought and function

Not yet knowing, or if so, not accepting, or if so, showing

Love has come

She’s captured a heart

Exposed

Finding reason

In your words

Finding theory

In your views

Looking for

Caring and love

The words

Complex and articulate

The emotions

Pronounced then hidden

Love professed

And then withdrawn

Hit or miss

My heart, exposed

Heartache

You have been my eyes

My ears

My ground

My sky

My reason

My exception

My truth

Today you became,

My heartache

Unlikely

An unlikely heart developed deeply

Young beyond her age

Old beyond her days

I was young below my age

Old beyond her days

Lost forever the ability to know true love

He walked off into the night’s fog

Forever blind and unknowing

Those Eyes

Those eyes

Hid well the depth, despair and concern

A desire for love

Of connection or belonging

Longed for a glance

The breath of a whisper close

So focused, overwhelmed

Blinded by absence

Not knowing nor seeing…believing in others

The journey, that search

Long since finished

Right in front of…those eyes
